Add a watermark to PDF files or make them “read-only” during upload

ou can find this feature exclusively in a data room.  A data room is available only in the Growth and Enterprise packages. The watermark serves as a distribution protection for a document. If a member wants to download the PDF document, the name of the user and the date when the document was downloaded appear as a watermark across the document.  To prevent downloading, you can give a PDF document the "View-only" attribute. A user of your data room can open and read the PDF document in the data room - but not download it. You can add one of these attributes to a PDF document at the time of upload. To add these attributes to a document, you need at least the Write permission. A PDF file larger than 100 MB cannot have a watermark or view-only attribute added to it.

If you upload a PDF file in advanced mode, you have the option to give the file one of the following attributes:
  1. Watermark
  2. Read-only

To assign one of these attributes, proceed as follows:
  1. Open the Box
  2. Click on the "+" symbol in the upper green bar
  3. Select the function "Upload files (advanced)"
  4. Click on "Select files"
  5. idgard® connects to your computer
  6. Select your .pdf file
  7. Activate "Watermark" or "Read only"
  8. Upload your .pdf file

Once the upload process is complete, idgard® will switch to the file view.
