Delete a box or terminate membership in the box

Deleting a Box

Only the creator of a box can delete that box forever.  If a box cannot be deleted, there may be locked files in the box. In this case, unlock the files and perform the delete operation again. When a member of a box with a guest or full license executes the Delete option, a message appears stating that this removes the user's own access to that box. The user thereby terminates his membership in this box. The box is then no longer visible in the box overview. However, it will still be available to the other members of the box.

If you have booked a sealed backup and subsequently activated data protection in the box, the deletion of a box cannot be undone. The content is irretrievably deleted..

If a user with a guest or full license executes the "Delete" function, a note appears stating that this only removes the user's own access to this box. The user thereby terminates his membership in this box. The box will then no longer be visible in his box overview. However, it will still be available to the other members of the box.

Proceed as follows:

  1. In the row of the box you want to delete, click the 3-dot menu on the right .
  2. Select the "Delete" option.
  3. You will be informed that the deletion of a box is irrevocable.
  4. Agree to the deletion of the box, if you want to delete this box forever.
