Set session timeout for all users

A short expiration period is useful to avoid that unauthorized persons can take over user sessions. Long timeouts should only be accepted when using the service in trusted environments. Without this default setting, each user within the idgard® account can set the session timeout individually. To make this setting, you need the permission of an Administrator.  For protection class III you should centrally force a short session timeout, for example, of 30 minutes.

If you apply data protection class III, you should centrally force a short session timeout (e.g. 30 minutes).

Proceed as follows:
  • Open the "Administration" menu.
  • Open the "3-point" menu in the green bar in the upper right.
  • Click on "Enterprise settings"
  • Open the  "Access protection" tap.
  • Scroll down to "Time-out".
  • Click in checkbox "Enforce time-out for all users".
  • Enter the desired timeout in minutes. The maximum time is 480 minutes (8 hours). The shortest time is 10 minutes.

Save your settings.
