Will my data be shared with Microsoft if I use the new add-in? If yes, then why not just use OneDrive for Business by Microsoft directly for document exchanges in the future?

No. Any attachments you add via the idgard add-in are exclusively distributed via idgard. The recipient selected via the idgard add-in receives an email which exclusively contains links to Boxes and/or contents within idgard. Only recipients with the respective pass code or with access to the respective Data Rooms can access this data. This ensures that the data you sent is protected against potential data loss.

When you create a new email, a draft is created in Outlook. If you then add text and attachments to the original Outlook email, these may potentially be shared with the Microsoft Exchange Server (1). Data that you exclusively add via the idgard add-in (2) are only distributed via idgard. Therefore, sensitive data should only be added via the idgard add-in. This is the only way to ensure that your data is sent exclusively via idgard without any data loss.
