2-Factor authentication default settings

2-Factor authentication default settings

2-Factor authentication settings

To increase the protection factor, you can force the use of a 2-FA in idgard®.  Changes at this point are only effective for newly created users.   To make this setting, you need the permission of an Administrator. The 2-factor authentication settings are available to you, but are optional to apply.

Standard 2-factor authentication method:

In the selection field you choose which authentication method should be offered as default when creating a new user. This method is not enforced, but only offers the selected method as the first when a new user is created. The method can be changed in the profile when the user is created or subsequently m profile. The available methods are Passcode via SMS passcode or TOPT. There is a charge for using an SMS for logins. TOTP works by coupling the login for idgard® with any authentication app for TOTP.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Open the "Administration"  menu.
  2. Open the 3-dot menu in the green bar in the upper right.
  3. Click on "Enterprise settings".
  4. Open the "Access protection" tab.
  5. Scroll down to "Default 2FA option".
  6. Go to the "Default 2-factor authentication type " field.
  7. Choose the favorite data you want.
  8. Save your settings.
